Workshops & Events
Our workshops and services are engaging and hands on, you leave with the practical know how of what to do next on your block, no matter how big or small.
We purchased a bare block of land in 2016, which we used as a project for Shane's Permaculture Design Course. We sought the guidance of experienced tutors and mentors to ensure we were on the right track. Today we are experienced permaculture practitioners, but we are still working from the plan we established right at the start.
With the two decades of working out how to work and live sustainably and developing our own block from scratch, we have developed a series of systems which allow us to eat predominantly from our land. We want to show others how to save precious time, effort and money in setting up their edible gardens, orchards and lifestyle blocks.

We are known in the valley as 'the small footprint people'. We are proud of this description and love that we are now living the life we dreamed of all those years ago when we left the big smoke behind us.
Edible Gardening on the Homeblock
A full day interactive workshop in our home garden. Designed for both the beginner and the more experienced gardener, this workshop focuses on the essentials of good garden design, soil health, companion planting and crop rotation. Nicki will introduce Permaculture principles, show you how to set up gardens and composting systems from scratch as well as the all important nurturing of your soils.
This is an interactive session, so bring gumboots and a raincoat in case of inclement weather. Morning tea and workshop notes are provided. Please bring a plate for a shared lunch.
Self Sufficiency on the Homeblock
This workshop is for those who want to maximise their productive potential on a small to medium sized lifestyle block. Our aim is to share with you the basic permaculture design principles, holistic grazing systems and family routines that have allowed us to produce most of our own organic meat and vegetables, despite working predominantly off-site.

The morning session in the garden with Nicki discusses the fundamentals of soil health, growing nutritious vegetables, companion planting, crop rotation and composting. The afternoon with Shane will be looking at food forest design, holistic grazing methods and raising pigs.
